How do you delete videos and images from a Sony handycam's hard drive?

I have a sony handycam dcr-sx44 and I already deleted the videos and images from the video camera but doesnt it get stored somewhere else too? I want to know how to get it COMPLETELY gone. Could someone please explain how to remove the images and videos fully?|||I understand that your camera has a 4 gig internal memory . If you re format that memory through your camera menu you should be good. If you have already captured to your computer or other device you will have to cover your own tracks. It is best if you do not film something that may offend in the first place.
