I've got a sony ericsson w850i and one bluetooth radio connected into my pc and I'm trying to use my phone as a remote control on my computer but I can't... Can anyone shine light into my situation?|||from what i understand your phone is already able to connect through bluetooth to your pc, but the remote control doesn't work
in order for the remote control to work, your computer must have enabled the "Human interface device" service for bluetooth, i'm guessing this is the problem
look for "Human interface device" in your Device Manager (if you're using windows) and in your bluetooth configuration. this is all you need to have on your computer for the remote control to work.
you need to enable this Human Interface Device, you can look for ways to enable it by checking your Bluetooth configuration or you can try reinstalling your Bluetooth on your computer and see if it asks you about this

Are memory sticks a good reason not to buy a Sony digital camera?
I've heard Sony memory sticks cost a lot more than SDHC cards, but don't provide any advantages other than being compatible with Sony cameras. Should people buy other brands of cameras than Sony to avoid having to buy expensive memory sticks?|||Yes, it's why I instantly rule out Sony cameras.
SD / SDHC cards that you buy will work in so many cameras that I only look for SD cameras. Cameras do not last very long, but SD cards last for many years. You can also use SD cards more readily in PC's. Sony should ditch the Memory Stick and start using SD.
If you buy a Sony camera and 2 or 3 Memory sticks, then replace the camera - you're forced to buy another Sony (if you want to use your existing memory cards). How do you make everything except one color black and white in Sony Vegas Pro 9?
Well basically I've seen videos on youtube where everything is in black and white except for (for instance) the red objects in the shot. What is a good Sony camera to take snowboarding photos?
I have an old DSC-P71 and it took amazing shots of my friends out snowboarding. I started to get megapixel envy and upgraded to a Canon S70 but all the photos came out blurred. I sold that and bought a Sony DSC-P100 but that also took very blurry photos. So I went back to my old 3 megapixel friend. Now, the view finder has broken, and I need to get another digital camera.
It has to be Sony, as I have 2x 4gb memory stick pro duos, and I don't want to buy additional memory.
It has to take great action shots out of the box, and be small. I don't want to have to make a million adjustments, just switch it on and take amazing photos of my friends taking jumps and such.

I usually wait until after I store them to change to any B/W, cause occassionaly I want to go back and see the full color of a B/W shot.. Good Luck|||Perhaps this is a good thing ... the algorithms that do this in your camera are designed by guys with pocket protectors who may or may not have a good background in photography (shooting, developing and printing in black and white). My feeling is you may want more control over the results.

The DCR HC26 is a MiniDV camcorder so you can use Windows Movie Maker or just about any other video editor. You'll need to capture the video via firewire rather than USB - if your PC hasn't already got one you'll need to install a firewire card. They're cheap, easy to install and readily available. You'll also need a firewire cable.

Think of it like if you were in school, taking a big test, and just when you finish it some kid takes it from you and puts their name on it and hands it in. Would you be a ***** to tell the teacher? The difference is that instead of losing a grade, these hackers run the risk of costing Sony millions of dollars in software sales. Secondly, no matter how many people they sue, it won't affect the quality or quantity of what they put out on their systems. There should be some kind of filter you apply to your footage to desaturate it (turn it black and white). What mp3 player should i get to replace my sony?
I have a sony NWHD3 Sony, 20gb hard disk. Its the 2nd generation of the "famous" Sonicstage software mp3 players.
Its time to replace it.
Iv always been a sony fan, excellent sound quality and build quality and iv not really liked the ipods, too bulky and everyone has it.
What should i get now?|||I've got a Creative Zen Vision:M 30gb and I love it. I think there are newer ones available cos I've had mine for a year, it was good value, sound quality is good and the screen is pretty good for watching videos and pics. How can i connect ps3 to sony surround sound system?
I've Sony HD tv and Sky+hd box. Only free slots are AV out on back of PS3 and 2x 3.5mm audio at front of surround system.
Also can Sony Bravia Sync not work with all 3 systems?|||What you need is a TOSlink cable ( eBay) that goes from the back of ps3 to the back of home cinema system ( small square with round flap inside whole thing less than 1cm! Just plug in cable both ends go to ps3 menu settings, sound settings change from HDMI to optical then put home cinema on aux job done!

I have a battery charger for the battery that goes to my Sony Mavica. When I first plugged the battery in it was red. Now it is either orange or yellow (depending on who is looking at it). How good is Sony with their repair service?
I just sent my laptop into sony repairs about 2 hours ago. And i am very worried that my laptop might come back damaged or scratched. Has anyone sent their laptop in to get fixed? And how was it when it was returned to you?|||I had to get a Sony laptop repair that died on me only 2 months after I bought it. It was a warranty repair and I was leaving town for spring break in a week. Not only did Sony send me special box, they sent pre-paid shipping labels and paid for shipping both ways.
The laptop came back to me in less than 7 days (including the weekend) and they even replaced a tiny rubber boot on the lid that keeps it from rubbing on the keyboard! I didn't even know it was missing until I saw the list of serviced parts!!!
Granted, this was in 2004, but I was EXTREMELY happy with the service.

How to change Sony Handycam digital format to a format which can be edited with all video softwares?

How can I change the opacity of some videos on Sony Vegas Studio to be able to fade different videos together?
I have 3 different videos and I want to make them all transparent so 3 of them is visible, like in photoshop where you change the opacity of a layer to be able to view layers below that. How can I do this? I have Sony Vegas Studio 9.0 Platinum.

Then if you hover over a clip at the top you should get a little hand and a arrow pointing up and down, if you drag that down it makes the clip transparent, if you then do this with all of them, you should be able to view all of them at once.

How does a Sony Trinicon tube video camera compare with a CCD camcorder of the 80's?
I know the Trinicon has about 300 lines. But overall, how does it compare to a 1/4'' CCD found in a later Sony camcorder?|||God no.

To give you an idea on resolution, a VHS signal has a resolution of 425 lines, PAL regions. A VHS-C camcorder, a portable handheld camcorder version of the VHS, has roughly nearly this, at 400 lines (and DVD at 500 lines)
So, bluntly, the tube video cameras suffered from the streaking and quality loss from poor resolution compared to today, and has even less resolution than a domestic video recorder.
They were also big, bulky, and heavy, whereas if you look at a CCD camera they are much much smaller. The technology was better, more durable, and generally better quality.
(Special thanks to Lare, a Y! Answers member, who gave me the advice on this, they used Electronic News Gathering cameras instead of moderner camcorders as first generation camcorders have a poor service record, and such as TV stations did not have the cash to blow out on a 拢3000 camcorder when they could replace the seperate recorder deck for a 1/3 of that if it blew, for example. Sorry if that rambling made no sense...)

What is the best way to clean a textured laptop surface. Im using a sony vaio VGN-NS laptop (silver). Because of the laptop's uneven surface, dirt %26amp; dust gets in easily. Ive tried cleaning using q-tips and rubbing alcohol, but that didnt help. Any suggestions, especially from those vaio users like me?|||It is mostly oils and dead skin cells on it and a cloth dampened with dish detergent and water should clean if it.|||For the monitor, I would use a cloth that is specifically designed for that purpose. Should be easy to find at any computer store. To get between the keys I would use electronics's grade compressed air (not one from a shop air compressor as these often release water.) For the rest of the surfaces, I would use a cleaner that is electronics safe. Windex makes one.|||Tooth brush and isopropyl alcohol. :)

Nowadays, cameras have been developed so well that it doesn't honestly matter which brand you choose. However, you get what you pay for. So invest in a higher quality camera :)

What is the cheapest store that i could find a sony cyber shot digital camera?
i found one sony cyber shot for only $79.87 at walmart but its only at "limited walmarts" so i dont know where i would find that one. also if i didnt have enough for the cyber shot i was planning on getting a kodak or polaroid.|||i suggest you try calling your surrounding walmarts near you ahead of time to track it down. if that doesn't work, start looking around at kmart and other retail stores. sometimes you might be able to catch a bargain online through best buy or circuit city but i doubt it.|||Have you tried eBay?

Why is my Sony laptop so loud when the computer is thinking?
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-CS120J. Basically, the computer fan it sounds like spins more and is louder than what it should be when the cpu is running more programs that take up memory. When i close out of some programs like firefox, itunes, or wmp, it will quiet down as the percentage of memory at use goes down because the program is closed. Why is it so loud?|||The percentage had better carefully go, and not be inordinately overcame on the whole business by the program|||You probably have a lot of dust in the fan.
Basically this is how it works... When you have more programs running, the CPU will get very hot causing the fan to work hard in an attempt to keep the CPU at a temperature that won't cause it to overheat. When you throw dust into the equation it makes it worse.
Dust acts as an insulation, it blocks airflow and keeps the heat inside, which will make the CPU even hotter and the fan will have to work even harder than normal to keep things cool.
Buy something like Endust (aerosol can, not spray) or dust destroyer and clear out the dust. It'll lower the temperature as well as make things easier on your fan.|||it maybe time to change your fan...

Restrict calls only restricts outbound calls though. It sounds like you want to modify the Accept Calls setting. Select Accept Calls under Manage Calls. You can create a list of Contacts that the phone will accept calls from, and you don't need a code set it up.

I need to replace my sim card on the sony ericsson w580i because I accidently put in a new one instead of using my old one with all my contacts etc on it. All you should need to do is hold the phone with the keys facing down and the top facing you. Put both thumbs on the removable part (which is about the top 3 inches if you are holding it according to above) and push away from you. If it doesn't easily slide off, try pressing down a little as you push it away from you.

How do I fix my Sony Elixim digital camera, which is now taking blurry pictures every time I zoom in close?
Many of the pictures my Sony Elixim (orange credity card style) camera takes are now coming in blurry? Especially when I zoom in very close. Even when I take normal shots, the pictures seems rough and not crisp. Is the camera dead or can this be fixed?
I also have a Casio Digital Elf camera that is a few years older and I just turned it on for the first time and the digital screen is flashing lines and I can barely see what's in the picture. Consult your manual to avoid digital zoom or remove it all together.
If you're taking pictures zoomed in without flash while in a dark setting, you're pretty much out of luck. Since it's a point %26amp; shoot you don't really have a choice. Either use flash or an action scene mode, if available.

How much money does CEO or chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment makes?
I'm not talking about CEO or chairman of the whole Sony company, but just of Sony Computer Entertainment, the section of Sony which makes PlayStations and games.
So how much money CEO or chairman of SCE make a year? Why did Sony discontinue backwards compatability with ps2 games on the Playstation 3?
I know that the most recent models do not support ps2 games....I have read that sony said the ps3 simply does not have the power to emulate the ps2 cpu and the ps3's gpu and still give the user a great gaming experience. Does this mean that my 60gig will be inferior to the current 80gig in terms of gameplay experience?|||ye the 60gb is the best one so far..and its very hard to make all the ps2 games work on ps3..it takes time|||Nope. 1st you either misunderstood or were given bad info, the ps3 has plenty of emulation power but there are too many hardware differences to do software emulation without at least having the ps2 gpu available. That is what the 80 gb and european 60gb models did, software emulation with the ps2 gpu. It works with about 80% of ps2 games.
Second, the 60gb is the less recent model, and contains the ps2's cpu as well as gpu, meaning it plays ps2 games perfectly without needing emulation. No way is it gonna be inferior to an 80gb. The only advantage the new 80's have over the 60, besides an extra 20g of drive space, is 65nm circuits in the processors, which are more efficient. Nanotechnology marches on...

Too many people said "no way am I gonna pay $600" at first, and Sony was losing too much money and had to cut corners, as it was costing over $1000 just to make a ps3. Now a lot of people who decided to wait for a price drop are wishing they had bought one in the 1st 10 months instead.
Don't go trading in your 60 for an 80, except maybe if it's a european 60.

How do you find the saved files on a sony ericsson w580i cell phone?
I have a sony ericsson w580i and i have the memory stick to it. Whenever I take a picture or video and save it to the memory stick, I can never find it later. Any ideas on what I should do or how to fix it?|||When your in camera mode while you have your memory stick inserted you can press "settings" (Thats the left softkey) and scroll to "save to" to decide weather you want to save it to the "Memory Card" or on the "Phone's Memory". If for example you save it to the "Phone's Memory" and you run out of memory it'll give you this message "Memory Fully. Delete data or select settings %26gt; save to %26gt; memory stick". Okay to view your photo's take you've taken in the past just go to file manager %26gt; camera %26gt; **and the photo will be here**

What is the difference between Sony Vegas movie studio 9 and Sony Vegas Pro 9?
Can anyone tell me what the difference is, anyone who's tried them or just knows about them? I don't get it cause the price is considerably different, so I was wondering if Movie Studio 9 has kind of the same options and advantages as Pro 9... I want to buy one of them, and at the moment I've heard (and seen) that Sony Vegas is the best of softwares. I want to make sure that if I'm paying for it, at least I'm buying a good product.|||Vegas IS one of the best NLEs out there. Even more user friendly than Adobe Premiere, and much more intuitive.
The main difference between MovieStudio and Pro are the amount of tracks allowed. Pro allows unlimited video and audio tracks (with color correction) and support for 5.1 surround mixing with panning and 192kHz/24bit audio, while Movie Studio only allows up to 4 video and 4 audio tracks max. without 5.1 panning support or 5.1 Dolby AC3 encoding (except for Movie Studio Platinum) and only 48kHz/16bit audio.
There are other media import features that Pro has the Movie Studio don't but you're probably not gonna use them, like Red One, SD/HD-SDi, XDCAM.

How could I take really nice photographs with a Sony Cybershot camera?
It is just an average digital camera, I go on Tumblr a lot, and they have really artistic photo's, however they are mostly created from Nikons, Canons and other really expensive cameras. Please don't suggest Photoshop or any other complicated, editing programs that cost money and please don't suggest buying one of those camera's as I don't have the money.
Any help would be appreciated as to how I could make the most out of my Sony camera and make nice pictures, tips and tricks will lighting, focus, etc etc would be helpful, thankyou.|||There's nothing wrong with your Cybershot, and a top-of-the-line Canon, Nikon or a $2,500+ Sony Alpha 900 for that matter, won't necessarily give you better or more artistic pics, and most if not all professional pics need extensive software post-processing to make them look the way they are.
A few things you might want to try are: shooting in black-and-white for a moody atmosphere on cloudy days, looking for sharp contrasts, experimenting with the settings on your camera, creating a personal photo assignment (urban landscapes, animals, you name it). Try to think of with a number of alternative shots before you photograph something and have a look at some basic rules of photo composition (see link).
Googling "photo ideas" might also help (for instance, see kodak link below).
As for expensive software: there are lots of excellent, free alternatives for Adobe Photoshop (see link below). One of my favourites is PhotoFiltre.

You should also be aware of zone focusing. You should be able (in PASM modes) to set a focus distance and the camera will lock to that distance. For example for a landscape you should set this to infinity. This means you can leave the camera to concentrate on sorting out exposure.
When you're ready to expose, use spot metering, and the half press of a shutter to AE lock correctly. Then recompose your frame. Avoid using the built in flash, and learn how to use available light, such as window light and skylights, and how to add to it with reflectors. Finally, turn the ISO to the lowest possible setting, usually 64 or 100 will do.

What causes curved red lines on the display of Sony rear projection TV?
We have a Sony rear projection HD TV. It has worked fine for 5 years. Recently, we noticed that there are curved horizontal red lines etched permanently across the display. Regardless of the input we are using (dvd player or cable box), these red lines are permanently displayed when the TV is turned on. Any ideas on what causes this and how to fix it? Is it something to do with cleaning some components?|||Since the set is 5 years old this will be a crt based rear projo. Put the set on an unused video input. Do the lines run side to side about 2-3 inches apart from top to bottom? If yes then the this is one of sony's model with known bad picture tubes (all three). Cost to repair out of warranty would be over $1000--not worth it.
If the red lines are just in one area (with a picture back up)--say the top of the picture--then the problem is the convergence amp IC's. Repair would be around $300 but if this is one of the models with the bad crt's--I talk the customers out of the convergence repair because they dont want to have to call me back in a short time just look at the lines in the pic (most likely like yours) and charge them to literally do nothing but look at it--never opening my tool box.

BTW--Don't ever try to clean between the screens unless you know exactly what you're doing----even the experts make it worse sometimes---and rookies ALLWAYS make it worse|||Since they are curved, I suspect it is on the plastic front panel. Can you detect them even when the TV is off?

If you think it is electronic, you can go to the SETTINGS menu of your TV, and turn the RED down as low as it goes. If the red line looks a lot dimmer, then it is an electronic issue, and I don't know what you could do other than buy a new TV.

If you re format that memory through your camera menu you should be good. If you have already captured to your computer or other device you will have to cover your own tracks. It is best if you do not film something that may offend in the first place.

Does the Sony Ericsson 760a require a memory card to play music?
I have a Sony Ericsson 760A, and it was advertised as a phone that can store and play music. But the memory capacity on the phone doesn't seem to allow for that. Is it REQUIRED that I purchase a memory card to store music on my phone, or am I doing something wrong?|||If you want to add music, pictures, and possibly video (which requires some kind of a converter so the phone can recognize and play the video), then you need to order a memory card. I use the 8 GB Sandisk Mobile Ultra M2 memory card. It has like a ton of memory for my music and still has room! If you get a memory card, you need to buy a card reader as well. The reader allows the card to be hooked into your computer (via a USB drive) so you can put music on it. I don't know any other way to hook the phone to the computer, unless there's some USB cable you have to buy separately from the phone (which probably doesn't exist).

How to transfer songs from sony mp3 player back to computer?
I blew up hard drive of my computer and replaced it with new one. I am wondering if there is any way to transfer all my songs from sony mp3 player(Model: NW-E507) back to my new hard drive. I didnot have any backup files either. I cannot afford to lose all my songs.
(PS: I already spoke to sony technical ppl regarding this...they said its not possible)
I think there should be some crooked way to transfer. Pls help me.|||These types of devices are not made to be able to transfer songs from the device to a computer as to reduce the likelihood of illegal copying of songs - It might be a case where you just need to put all the songs back onto you computer and in future make sure you backup all your data.
I would listen to the sony technician.|||I agree with Kyle EphPod is GREAT however it do not work with new ipods|||There is a program called EphPod, but it was made with iPods in mind. However, its possible that you could use it with other mp3 players. Just search EphPod on google. shouldn't be hard to find. it's worth a try.

How do I update my Sony Ericsson W910i software?
Hi,
I have already downloaded the Sony Ericsson W910i update software and pc suite from the sony ericsson website. However, when I tried to update, I could not connect the phone to the computer. The error message is that the USB could not be recognised. (Yet, the phone could connect to the computer when I used the pc suite.)
May I know what is the problem and how to resolve this problem?
Thanks!|||When you connect the phone make sure it is tuned off and connect it while holding the C key. It should make the connection then. If the phone is working with the PC suite it may be the update software itself. You will want to uninstall/reinstall and sty again.
